چکیده
Abstract Background We tested the hypothesis that C-MAC® video laryngoscope (C-MAC) with an external display is more useful than disposable i-view™ (i-view) integrated or a Macintosh direct (Macintosh) for tracheal intubation aerosol box. Methods In this randomized, crossover manikin study, we recruited 37 medical personnel > 2 years of dedicated anesthesia experience from five hospitals. After three successful intubations within 60 s using each without box, participants performed thrice at least 2-h intervals in determined order. The primary outcome was time. secondary outcomes were success rate, Cormack-Lehane grade, and subjective difficulty scale score. Results Thirty-seven (11 women 26 men) 12 [5–19] (median [interquartile range]) intensive care enrolled. There no significant difference time: 30 [26–32] Macintosh, 29 i-view, [25–31] C-MAC ( P = 0.247). rate 95–100%, 0.135). i-view exhibited superior grades lower scores Macintosh; however, there differences between C-MAC. Conclusions Rapid highly possible both on normal airway Improved grade ease performing procedure may support use laryngoscopes. Trial registration UMIN Clinical Trials Registry, UMIN000040269 . Airtraq, LMA CTrach and Macintosh Laryngoscopes in Tracheal Intubation Training: A Randomized Comparative Manikin Study.
OBJECTIVE Training students on simulators before allowing their direct contact with patients is well accepted. There is no clinical or manikin-based simulation study in the literature comparing tracheal intubation with Airtraq, laryngeal mask airway (LMA) CTrach and Macintosh laryngoscopes performed by medical students having no prior intubation experience. METHODS After obtaining written inf...
متن کاملComparing McGRATH® MAC, C-MAC®, and Macintosh Laryngoscopes Operated by Medical Students: A Randomized, Crossover, Manikin Study
We hypothesized that the McGRATH MAC would decrease the time of intubation compared to C-MAC for novices. Thirty-nine medical students who had used the Macintosh blade to intubate a manikin fewer than 3 times were recruited. The participants performed sequential intubations on the manikin in two simulated settings that included a normal airway and a difficult airway (tongue edema). The intubati...
متن کاملEvaluation of intra ocular pressure and hemodynamic change following intubation with Maccoy, Macintosh and Video laryngoscope
Background & Objective: The induction of anesthesia, laryngoscopy and endotracheal intubation can be associated with adverse hemodynamic response and increased intraocular pressure. The aim of this study was to evaluate intraocular pressure and hemodynamic changes after laryngoscopy and endotracheal intubation with three methods of laryngoscopy (Macintosh, Maccoy and Video laryngoscope).Materia...
متن کاملA comparison of the Airtraq®, McGrath®, and Macintosh laryngoscopes for difficult paediatric intubation: A manikin study
BACKGROUND The efficacy of devices for difficult intubation in paediatric patients, especially with a Cormack-Lehane grade 4 view, has yet to be established. We compared intubating parameters among three devices (the Airtraq®, McGrath®, and Macintosh laryngoscopes). METHODS This study is a randomised cross-over trial. Participants were 20 anaesthetists. Each device was tested three times usin...
متن کاملA Randomized Comparison Simulating Face to Face Endotracheal Intubation of Pentax Airway Scope, C-MAC Video Laryngoscope, Glidescope Video Laryngoscope, and Macintosh Laryngoscope
OBJECTIVES Early airway management is very important for severely ill patients. This study aimed to investigate the efficacy of face to face intubation in four different types of laryngoscopes (Macintosh laryngoscope, Pentax airway scope (AWS), Glidescope video laryngoscope (GVL), and C-MAC video laryngoscope (C-MAC)). METHOD Ninety-five nurses and emergency medical technicians were trained t...
